There's nothing better than sitting in a sold-out arena, and watching your team win in overtime. That's what happened last night at The Peavey Mart Centrium as the Red Deer Rebels beat Connor Bedard and the Regina Pats 6-5 in the extra period.

Both fans and players had this game circled on their calendars for weeks as Bedard has been hailed as everything from "The next Connor" to "The next great one". He didn't disappoint the huge crowd of 7287. Bedard scored in the first period, and would have two assists in the game as well. He as named second star.

The Rebels electrified the crowd with a Ben King goal just over in minute into the game. Rebels leading scorer Kai Uchacz would then make it 2-0 with a power play goal just two minutes later.

In the opening period that saw five goals, Connor Bedard scored at the 13:39 mark to lift his team back to a one goal defecit. The period would end with the game tied at 3-3.

Although many were in attendance to see Bedard, the real hero of the game was Ben King who scored his second goal in the third to tie the game 5-5.

Jhett Larson would need just over 2 minutes in OT for the game winning goal as the Rebels proved once again why they are sitting just 3 points out of first place in the Eastern Conference.

Next up for Red Deer, road games to Spokane Saturday and Everett on Sunday.
