Congratulations to Chance Longjohn, from Maskwacis, who has been named the RDP Athlete of the Week.

Longjohn, a Kings Hockey player and a Bachelor of Education Middle Years (5th year)is also the Captain of the Kings team.

He played a key role in helping the RDP Kings Hockey team defeat the University of Alberta Augustana Vikings in the best-of-three semi-final. In game one, Longjohn assisted on the Kings’ first goal, which was a power play marker. When the Kings trailed the Vikings 2-1 in the second period, the talented fifth-year forward scored a nice goal to even the contest 2-2. The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings eventually won 3-2 at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

Longjohn, who is a Bachelor of Education Middle Years student, had another strong game in Camrose. He scored the Polytechnic’s second goal shorthanded. Longjohn led by example, working hard and playing a solid 200-foot game.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings defeated the U of A Augustana Vikings 6-2 and advanced to the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Men’s Hockey Championship. The RDP Kings will face the Concordia University Thunder in the best-of-five finals, beginning Friday, March 15.
