For the second weekend in-a-row, Lacombe Minor Baseball will be hosting a Provincial tournament at Michener Park.

The 11 U AA team will be hosting the tournament this weekend, from Friday (July 28th) to Saturday (July 31st).

Shannon Bruns, the President of Lacombe Minor Baseball, talks about the tournament this weekend.

"We actually had our 13 U community teams play for their provincial championship last weekend and they took home silver. So that was exciting to do that at home,  and this weekend our 11 U AA team is hoping to bring home the Provincial banner in their tier. This is an 8 team provincial championship with teams from Edmonton, Camrose, Rocky Mountain House, Olds, and Blackfalds as well."

The tournament kicks off Friday morning at 9:00 with games running right up until 6:00pm. There will be an opening ceremony Friday night also at 6:00 pm. On site will be a fundraiser BBQ and local market on Saturday.

Games will also run Saturday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Sunday with the semi-finals and finals running from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Bruns says she's proud to be hosting the Provincials again this year.

"The association is doing a fantastic job. It comes right down to the players, the coaches, the families, everybody who's involved is a huge part. We are quite proud of Lacombe Minor Baseball and what they have accomplished over the last five years. We do have some of the most beautiful diamonds in Alberta at Michener, so we are always grateful to be provided the opportunity to host and show the rest of Alberta what we have."
