The Lacombe AA Generals beat the Red Deer Rustlers 5-3 on Wednesday night to become the North Central Hockey League (NCHL) South Division Champions.

With the victory, the Gens also won their best-of-seven series and will move onto round three of the Vanberg Cup Playoffs.

Just over 250 fans watched at the Penhold Muliplex as the home team Rustlers went up 3-0 in the first period. 

Lacombe would then storm back in the second and third periods with five unanswered goals from Troy Maclise, TJ Brown, Thomas Beretta, Tyrell Bourk and Colin Zimmer.

Goalie Mackenzie Engel would stop 28 of 31 shots for another win.

Next up for the Genrerals will be the winner of the Devon-Bonnyville series. Their next game is scheduled for Friday night.
