The Sylvan Lake Gulls couldn't have asked for a better start to the 2023 regular season. They swept the Fort MacMurray Giants over the weekend winning all three games.

Friday, May 26th-Giants 0  Gulls-1

Friday night in front of over 1600 fans, the bases were loaded in the bottom of the 9th and Hank Dodson hit a sacrifice fly to bring Aiden Jackson home to win the game.

Tyler McWillie was named the winning pitcher.

Saturday, May 27th-Giants 0  Gulls-1

Saturday was much the same for the home team. In the second inning returning player Matty Fung hit a single with the bases loaded to send Shea Bowen in for a run. That would end up being the winning score for the Gulls, as they would end up beating Fort MacMurray again 1-0.

Josh Tucker was named the winning pitcher.

Sunday, May 28th-Giants 4  Gulls-5

Sunday afternoon, the Gulls had a chance to sweep the Giants in front of 1,493 fans. It was a close game but they came out on top with a 5-4 win.

Matty Fung continued his great weekend with a run in the first, followed by Jonah Weisner who also scored to put the Gulls up 2-0.

It would be Fung and Weisner again in the 5th inning, along with a run by Aiden Jackson to put Sylvan Lake up by a score of  5-1. The Giants would come back with three more runs later in the game but it was not enough to beat the Gulls.

Hunter Jones was the winning pitcher.
