With Mother Nature finally cooperating with spring like weather, our local golf courses are gearing up for another season.

With the temperatures expected to stay in the 20's for the next couple of days, golf courses such as Meadowlands in Sylvan Lake, Ponoka Community Golf Club, and Gull Lake Golf Course are already almost fully booked for tee times.
Kevin Broderson is the General Manager and the Head Golf Pro at the Lacombe Golf and Country Club, and he says they have been open and ready to go since the middle of April.

They have just been waiting on Mother Nature to do her part.

"Golf course has been ready to go for about two weeks, three weeks actually, and yup, just been waiting on the weather. Greens are fabulous, came through the winter great, everything is good, fairways, tee boxes, it's in amazing shape. We officially opened on April 14, but again Mother Nature hasn't helped us out with any warm weather, we had snow for a few days there... last weekend was really good too, we had a decent Saturday and Sunday, so moving forward, hoping to get some warmer temperatures, high teens, to even in the twenties, it's going to be great".

Broderson adds they are doing some work to the tee box on the 15th hole, which should be completed by June.

They also resurfaced their patio, and remind the public that although it is a semi-private club, meaning that there is members only booking times, the public is welcome at any other time, and can come in and enjoy a meal anytime.
