With two huge wins over the weekend, the Lacombe Generals now have a stranglehold on the Red Deer Rustlers, in their best-of-seven, Vanberg Cup playoff series.

After heading back home on Saturday with the series tied at 1 game apiece, Lacombe took control of the series in game three with a lopsided 9-1 win.

Game four Sunday looked the same. A goal from Cam Maclise at the four minute mark, and then two more from Thomas Beretta in the opening period put the Gens up for good.

Red Deer would battle back with a couple goals in the second but three more goals in the third, including a hat trick goal from Beretta would put the Generals up 7-2.

Gens goalie, Mackenzie Engel would stop 30 of 32 shots for the win.

The series will now head back to Penhold for game five on Wednesday. Game time is 8:15.
