The Heartland Youth Centre is now accepting donations for the 32nd annual Awesome Auction.

Throughout the last three decades, there has been a wide range of items donated to the auction, including quilts, paintings, gift baskets, trips, electric bikes, and even a car.

The auction is the major fundraiser of the Heartland Youth Center BGC of Stettler.

There are about 380 registered youth between six and 18 years of age in a variety of programs, such as leadership development, mentoring, community service to the club and service to the community, and social recreation activities.

“The fundraiser supports our operating costs so that we can offer all these programs,” Winnie Bissett, Heartland Youth Center Executive Director said.

Throughout the years, Bissett has heard a lot of positive feedback from event attendees.

“It's usually about the meal because it's a steak and lobster dinner, not a lot of those happening in Stettler, but we also for the last 15 years have been doing more of a themed event and people really enjoy taking part in the theme,” she said. “This year's theme is vintage Vegas. People can dress up, it's not an expectation, but some people do dress up in the theme, and the decor will be vintage Vegas.”

Anyone interested in donating an item to the auction is encouraged to call 403-742-5437 for more information.

The event will be held on June 1, and include a silent and live auction, a dance, and a steak and lobster dinner at the Stettler Community Hall.
