The Wetaskiwin RCMP with the assistance of the RCMP Major Crimes Unit south are investigating the death of a 27 year old female.

On September 26 at 1:30 a.m., the RCMP responded to a call to a residence where the 27-year-old female was located and transported to the hospital.  On September 29, 2018 the female succumbed to injuries received and died while in the hospital.  The RCMP Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation.

An autopsy was completed on October 2, 2018.  The RCMP are working with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton to determine the manner of death.  The investigation remains ongoing and no further information is available at this time.

Westaskiwin RCMP seek public assistance in an assault investigation

On September 26, 2018, at approximately 1:30 a.m., RCMP were called to a residence in the area of 49 Avenue and 53 Street. Upon arrival they located an adult female lying in the grass.  The 27-year-old female is currently in hospital being treated for a serious head injury.

The investigation is ongoing and RCMP are seeking any information from the public that may assist the investigation.
