Garden Days are upon us and Parkland Nurseries and Garden Centre in Red Deer have you covered.

Included in the list of events taking place at the Garden Centre are Create your own Miniature Garden, Meet Martin – Our Local Fruit Expert and Kids: Learn How to Plant and Care for a Flower, which all take place this Saturday.

It will be the second weekend in a row where Kids: Learn How to Plant and Care for a Flower is taking place and Customer Planter Judy Reeds said it’s a great introduction for kids.

“We have to get the kids to appreciate plants and it’s amazing how many kids don’t understand that the majority of their food comes from plants.”

“They don’t understand that you plant a potato and you get a potato. They don’t necessarily come out of plastic bags.”

The 10-day program, which runs until June 18, gives gardening enthusiasts, families and schools a chance to engage and learn the importance of gardening and how to do it properly.

Reeds said gardening is an important tool and believes it’s something everyone can do.

“We encourage all ages of people to garden, from kids to seniors and we try to help them do that.”
