RCMP were on the scene of a collision, Highway 2 at the intersection with Highway 604 south of Ponoka. A RCMP collision analyst was on scene.  

August 12, 2017 at 9:43 am, a collision occurred on Highway 2 where a passenger van carrying 4 occupants blew a tire and lost control.  RCMP advise that the passenger van collided with a second vehicle, a dump truck.  As a result of the collision the passenger vehicle rolled.  

All four of the occupants of the passenger vehicle were treated for injuries.  Two with minor injuries.  One occupant transported to Ponoka Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and a 13 year old boy was flown by STARS to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton in stable condition.  The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

During the investigation of the collision traffic was disrupted.  North and South bound lanes are no longer affected.
