With a goal of helping Albertans find rewarding careers, the 6th annual Career Week is underway across the province.

More than 150 career events are happening, including 6 in Red Deer.

Today (April 25th) 10 local employers currently hiring will be at the Red Deer Job Fair which runs from 9:30-4 at the Red Deer Alberta Supports Centre, 2nd floor of First Red Deer Place downtown.

Spokesperson with the Government of Alberta, Charles Strachey says that centre has supports available no matter what your circumstances.

“We offer career services all year long, and we even have specialized services and we work with different agencies with specialized services that work with people that are mid-career, doing career changes, or maybe looking for a job after a job loss, and so they can come in to our Alberta Supports Centre and we can connect them with the services they need and get them back to work”.

Tomorrow (April 26th) Red Deer College is set to host the largest student-focused career information event in the region, CAREERexpo.

It's expected students from nearly 40 schools in the region will attend, bringing more than 3,000 students through the doors.

Strachey says it provides kids some great insight into future career paths.

“Definitely focused on high school and college aged Albertans, what’s really great about that event, is they have a bunch of hands on displays so you can actually go there, look at the different career options, actually try your hand at some of the skills, like try your hand at metal working or try a welding simulator, that sort of thing, so a lot of different careers that you can see all at once, back to back”.

CAREERexpo runs 9-3 at RDC.
