Lacombe Police held its annual charity checkstop on Saturday, raising money for Lacombe Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Lacombe and District MADD chapter.

Volunteers lined up in the middle of 50 Avenue in front of the old police station in downtown Lacombe to take donations from drivers passing through.

For BBBS, the money will go to its Kids and Cops summer camp, held every July, where campers learn about what police do and attend various field trips.

“They get to learn respect with police officers and get to learn that they’re really good people and good people as well in the community to connect with,” said Chelsey Hudkins, a BBBS social worker.
