The fourth week of January marks National Non-Smoking Week.

Observed in Canada for more than 30 years, the occasion is a chance to learn about the impact tobacco use has on your health.

Janet Walker from Alberta Health Services says there are many resources for those looking to butt out, including the Tobacco Residential Treatment Program -- an eight-day, in-patient treatment program for those who want “a more intensive tobacco-cessation program.”

The program is operated out of the Lander Treatment Centre in Claresholm.

Another option, Walker said people can self-refer themselves to the addiction and mental health office at 5033 52 Street in Lacombe.
