From Rocky Mountain House RCMP: On May 7 at approximately 7pm, Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to an armed robbery at a business west of town.  Two masked males entered the business and bear sprayed the employee. The males took several bottles of liquor and left in a silver Jeep Liberty travelling northbound towards Highway 11. The employee suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated by emergency medical services.

The Rocky Mountain House RCMP made patrols and located the vehicle travelling on O’Chiese First Nations Main Road. The SUV failed to pull over for the RCMP, a brief pursuit ensued until the vehicle drove into the ditch on a gravel lease road. Two males were arrested and taken into custody with the assistance of the Police Dog Services (PDS).

27-year-old Francis Xavier Maurice of Red Deer is currently facing the following charges as a result of this incident:

  • ·Robbery
  • ·Assault with Weapon
  • ·Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • ·Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • ·Disguised with intent to commit offence
  • ·Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • ·Flight from Peace Officer

 Francis Maurice has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court May 16, 2018.

30-year-old Farron Cory Rowan of Sunchild First Nations is currently facing the following charges as a result of this incident:

  • ·Robbery
  • ·Assault with Weapon
  • ·Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000
  • ·Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • ·Disguised with intent to commit offence

Farron Rowan has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court May 23, 2018.
