For those of us that thought we were out of the woods and changed over to our vehicle's summer tires, this wintery weather has been unwelcoming.

The worst of the snow seems to be behind us today, but after getting snow twice over the last few days, and more in the forecast, you may be rethinking your choice.

Saturday's flurries caused havoc on the QE2 and other Central Alberta Highways as first responders dealt with several collisions.

Russel Downing, Manager of Fountain Tire in Lacombe says every situation is different, but if you've already taken off your winter tires, you should be okay.

"Some people have really good all-season tires that they put on for the summer that get them through this snow, others don't have as great an option to put on for the summer. Every situation is a little different, but we do have warmer weather through the days now. So the ground is a lot warmer, and the snow isn't freezing to the ground like we did in the winter."

Downing says most vehicles now come with a good set of all-season tires to safely get you through these conditions.

"As a rule of thumb, by the time Easter comes it's time to take your winter tires off. Again the days are warmer, and those temperatures aren't as cold at night. So by mid-April, it's safe to take them off.

Downing says the right pair of tires can make all the difference in helping you drive with confidence in bad weather.

The most important thing though is drive to the appropriate conditions.
