Just before 10:00 am, Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Rocky Mountain House and Caroline areas.

The statement says that significant snowfall is expected over the next few days.

Snow over southwestern Alberta will taper off later this morning. Heavy snow is expected to begin this evening along the foothills then spread to the east and continue through Wednesday. Total amounts of 10 to 25 cm are possible by Thursday morning.

The highest amounts will fall west of Highway 2.

The snow will be heavy and wet, and will be mixed with rain in some areas, so total snowfall accumulations will vary widely.
