From Rocky Mountain House RCMP

On Feb. 4, 2020 at approximately 7:16 a.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to an alarm at a bank in Caroline.

Further investigation revealed that two suspects a male and female damaged the front door and ATM at the bank and gained entry inside. The suspects then fled in a SUV eastbound on Highway 54 before police arrived.  No one was inside the bank at the time of the incident.

The vehicle used in the robbery was located abandoned a short time later near 47th Street in Rocky Mountain House. Police then executed a search warrant at a residence and arrested a male suspect.

Michael Jones (34) of Rocky Mountain House was arrested and charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  •  Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  •  Possession of a firearm with tampered serial numberDisguise with intent to commit offence

He was released from custody following a judicial hearing and will be appearing in Rocky Mountain House Provincial Court on Feb. 12, 2020.

Rocky Mountain House continue to investigate this incident as the second suspect has not been identified.
