The RCMP have obtained an arrest warrant in the first instance for 42-year-old Rad Rondeau, following a violent incident that left an RCMP officer suffering injuries and requiring medical attention. Public assistance is being sought in locating Rondeau.

Early Tuesday morning at 3:26 a.m., a Red Deer RCMP officer responded to a complaint of a trespasser at a business located on 50 Avenue.  The officer located a male believed to be the suspect and engaged in conversation with him.  During the interaction, the male is alleged to have assaulted the RCMP officer to the point where he was knocked unconscious, bleeding from the head area, and left on the ground.  The male fled.

Civilian security staff observed the incident and provided first aid assistance to the officer.  He was transported to a local hospital and has since been released.

Rondeau is described as:

-          Caucasian, brown hair / brown eyes

-          Approximately 5’10” tall / 190 lbs.

-          He is of no fixed address and may be seen in the downtown area

In relation to the above incident, charges of Aggravated assault on a police officer, robbery and obstruction have been laid.  Prior to this incident, Rondeau was wanted on unrelated arrest warrants resulting from offences committed in May.
