The Lending Cupboard has drawn the 31 winners for their Cash Calendar Fundraiser that was held over the holiday season.

“We did it for the month of December, so every single day there was a prize or a cash value that was sponsored by our local community corporations and a wide range of them,” said Dawna Morey, Executive Director of the Lending Cupboard.

Approximately 20 local businesses were involved in the fundraiser some sponsoring several day’s worth of prizes.

“The tickets were for the calendars were actually sold throughout the month of November and December. People use them as stocking stuffers, so we didn't do the draws until today (January 5, 2022) because we didn't want to ruin the surprise for those people that were having them in their stockings,” explained Morey.

In total, the Cash Calendar fundraised just under $8,000 for the Lending Cupboard.

“The donation will be going towards the general operations as you can well imagine, like any other business, the rent has to be paid, the lights have to stay on, the shelves need to be kept full, and so it'll go towards the general operations to be sure that all of those things happen,” added Morey.

The Lending Cupboard lends out medical equipment for injuries and recovery. In 2021, the organization served around 11,000 clients and processed over 26,000 pieces of medical equipment.

“That does not happen without the incredible support of our volunteers and our staff but as well without the support of the Community. We hope that continues. As a registered charity, people can go to our website at any time and make a donation to support us. We want to be a legacy that's here in the community for years to come so that whether it's equipment that you need today or something that you may need down the road, the Lending Cupboard will be here to support people throughout central Alberta,” said Morey.
