Being constant with your postings, collaborating with other local businesses, and introducing the face behind your company were some of the tips given to local entrepreneurs at the 20th session of the Social Media Breakfast Lacombe held Wednesday morning.

The special guest speaker was Merry Kuchle who's blog, Merry About Town, is all about food, fun, family and travel, and has been active since 2006 when she wanted to keep her family up to date on her adventures when she made the move from Alabama to Alberta.

Kuchle says it's important to try to figure out what your costumers need to hear, so they think about your business the same way you do.

“Often we’re so passionate about it, we think that everybody sees exactly what we think they do, and sometimes they don’t. So I’m going to talk about asking your costumers what they think your business is, and making sure those line up with what you think it is, and kind of filling in the gaps from there.”

She says social media is all about content, and in order to build and maintain a loyal following, you must keep that content coming.

“Especially for small businesses a lot of times it is difficult to figure out what you need to talk about and to keep it going overtime. Cause it’s easy to start, but then you kind of lose steam. So I’m hopefully going to give them some ideas to keep it going.”

The latest edition of the Social Media Breakfast Lacombe was hosted by Nowco Home Hardware, and is held on the first Wednesday of every second month.
