Ponoka RCMP has arrested a male for several offences following a suspicious vehicle complaint from the public.

RCMP responded to the suspicious vehicle on Highway 2A in Ponoka at 4:28 AM on April 30, 2021. Police determined the vehicle has been stolen out of Edmonton earlier that night.

The male driver was arrested and searched. RCMP seized bear spray, a knife and what is believed to be 1.5 grams of Methamphetamine. At the time of the arrest, the male provided a false name in an attempt to interfere with the police investigation.

The 17-year-old from Edmonton has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of stolen property under $5,000 (X2)
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Obstruction
  • Possession of an illegal substance
  • Failure to comply (X7)

The male has been remanded into custody and schedule to appear in Ponoka Provincial Court on May 5, 2021.
