Wolf Creek Public School's board of trustees recently passed a motion directing administration to create a charitable foundation, opening a channel for the public to support the division financially.

“Without a foundation it makes it really difficult  to formally create a pathway to do so. With this opportunity to form a foundation, it will allow us to partner with community in a way where we can garner funds and support and really target ways we can help our students in their learning,” said superintendent Jayson Lovell.

“One district initiative I know is going to be a focus with the foundation is supporting the work we’re doing in literacy. To have community members, businesses find ways to support Wolf Creek students through a foundation, we think it’s just a win-win for the school division but also represents a way for our community to support public education.”

Red Deer Public Schools also has a foundation of its own and as of August last year, held more than $300,000 dollars worth of assets, according to a report from WCPS staff.
