The RCMP station ins Wetaskiwin is pleased to announce that as of May 6, 2017, Inspector Keith Durance of the Central Alberta District RCMP Office will be taking up the positon as the Detachment Commander of the Wetaskiwin Detachment. This appointment was made with consolation with the City of Wetaskiwin.

Inspector Durance most recently served as a District Advisory NCO for Central Alberta District. He has experience in both “E” and “K” Divisions with a background in General Duty, Highway Patrol, and Police Dog service; attached to ERT and tactical teams.

He is familiar with policing in Wetaskiwin as he has worked in, or had oversight of, the Wetaskiwin County area for 19 of his 27 years of service. He will be engaged in the needs and expectations of the detachment and the communities the detachment services.

Chief Superintendent Jerry Scott would also use this opportunity to thank Inspector Fran Bethell who has been the Detachment Commander since December 2014. Inspector Bethell’s dedication and hard work are apparent in all she has done for the detachment.

Inspector Durance will focus on promoting and developing strong ties with RCMP partners and the community at large.
