From Wetaskiwin RCMP:

On January 3, 2018 the Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) assisted the Integrated Crime Reduction Unit (ICRU) in effecting the arrests of two offenders.

Shortly after 2:10 p.m., the ICRU members observed a truck being driven erratically in Wetaskiwin.  With the assistance of the Wetaskiwin CRU a strategic traffic stop was conducted and both the male driver and female passenger were arrested.

A search of the vehicle unveiled several items of stolen property, including personal jewellery, which has since been returned to rightful owners.  As well, there were multiple break and enter tools and methamphetamine.

Both subjects were on Probation and other release conditions.  As a result, both are facing multiple breach charges in relation to those conditions.

23-year-old Tyson Ethier of Sylvan Lake is facing thirteen criminal charges following this arrest.  Charges include: Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of break in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime and four fail to comply with conditions charges as well as five others.

33-year-old Leta Owen of Wetaskiwin is facing six criminal charges.

Both have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in Wetaskiwin on January 9, 2018.

This arrest was instrumental in solving other reported crimes.  The collaboration of both the Wetaskiwin RCMP and the ICRU was an important element in the RCMP’s continued priority of pro-active enforcement.
