On October 23rd, 2016, shortly after 10:00 PM, the Wetaskiwin RCMP received a call from a 31 year old female who had been peppered sprayed while out for a walk.

Police attended the female’s residence to learn that while the female was on the walking path near 55th Street, in the North West end of town, she was approached by 5 teenage males who asked her for money.

After the female told them “no”, she turned and walked away.

The female turned back to see if the males were following her and she was sprayed with pepper spray on the side of the face.

The female then ran home.

The males did not follow her.

The female did not sustain any injuries.

Police are suggesting that anyone going for a walk at night in the area should go with a friend, and carry a cell phone if they have one.

Any suspicious activity should be reported to police as soon as possible.
