Wolf Creek Public Schools says classroom service delivery to students with diverse learning needs will be impacted the most as a result of a 2.6 million dollar cut to their budget.

The School Board says the 2018/2019 budget was one of the most difficult they have had to deliberate in recent years.

The majority of cuts are being made to central office staff and operations, primarily staff supporting inclusive learning programming, with inclusive education coaches reduced from nearly 16 full time equivalent employees to 9 and school social workers reduced from over 19 full time equivalents to 10.

The Board says they worked hard to maintain classroom teachers, educational assistants, school operational budgets, and professional development funding for teachers and administrators.

Factors in the tight budget include limited operational reserves, reduced revenue from declining student enrolment and increasing utility and transportation costs.
