From the Canadian Press:

A former Alberta member of the legislature has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual interference involving a minor.

A charge of sexual assault was withdrawn against 63-year-old Don MacIntyre in Red Deer after he entered the plea this morning.

An agreed statement of facts says MacIntyre told the victim God was OK with him touching her sexually five to 10 times when she was 10 years old.

He resigned from the United Conservative Party last February after he was charged and the party says he deserves to face the full extent of the law.
