Red Deer RCMP took two men into custody the morning of June 16 after an attempted personal robbery in the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood.

At 9 am on June 16, RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of 60 Street and 54 Avenue after two men attempted to rob a male victim while he was stopped in his vehicle at a red light on 60 Street.

RCMP located the suspects sitting on the grounds of the nearby school. One suspect surrendered immediately when placed under arrest; the second suspect resisted arrest, engaging in a struggle with police officers before being taken into custody.

The suspect who resisted arrest was assessed on scene by City of Red Deer Emergency Services staff and cleared to be taken into custody.

The robbery victim sustained a minor injury to his hand and the police officers were not injured during the arrest.

20 year old Izak Sararas faces the following charges:

• Criminal Code 344(b) – Robbery
• Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer
• Criminal Code 127(1) – Disobey order of court

Sararas is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on July 5 at 9:30 am.

26 year old Jessie James Auger faces the following charge:

• Criminal Code 344(b) – Robbery

Auger is scheduled to appear in court on July 7 at 9:30 am.
