On October 8 at approximately 5:45 a.m. members of Olds RCMP Detachment were patrolling the Imperial Industrial park when a suspicious vehicle was observed in the parking of the UFA.  Members discovered that the vehicle has been reported stolen and initiated a traffic stop.

A male and female were placed under arrest; however, during the course of the arrest the male was able to break free.

The male dragged the already handcuffed female back into the stolen vehicle and began driving away. Officers were successfully able to deploy a tire deflation device but the suspect continued by ramming two police cars.

Police pursued the suspect vehicle for a short distance before the suspect vehicle came to a stop.  The male was unsuccessful in his attempt to steal another car from a passing motorist.  The suspect male fled the scene on foot.

The female was taken back into custody.  The male has not been located.

Both suspects have been identified and are known to police.  Numerous Criminal Code charges are pending against the pair.

While this incident caused extensive damaged to property, none of the involved officers, public or suspects were injured.

Investigation continues.
