A man charged in the death of a young Lacombe single mother will have to wait patiently in jail, after his trial was set for the fall of next year.

34-year-old Lyndon Olsen, who is charged with manslaughter with a firearm, appeared in Red Deer Provincial Court this morning.

His trial is scheduled to take place from September 17 to 25, 2018.

Olsen elected to be tried by judge and jury, after pleading not guilty in April.

The jury will be selected on day one of the trial and a pre-trial conference will be held on September 20, 2018 at 9 a.m.

He was arrested five days after a string of events on February 1st, when Mounties, who were responding to reports of shots fired near 54th Avenue and 43rd Street, received a second call about a truck crashing into a power pole near the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

Randee Stewart, was found inside the truck and was taken to the hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
