The Town of Ponoka wants to know what their residents think of their curbside waste and recycling program, as their current contract expires at the end of this year, by hosting an open house Thursday night.

Communications Manager with the town of Ponoka Sandra Smith says it will be a drop in formant, with information boards available detailing the current program, as well as options going forward.

“It outlines some of the program design options that are being researched as far as cost and logistics as we go through this program review. So we’re there to provide that information and to listen to what input people have to offer about the program and how it meets their current needs.”

The open house runs Thursday, May 10th, from 4 until 7pm at the Kinsmen Community Centre.

Smith says this information will be used for future waste and recycling contracts.

“The public input that we gather through the open house as well as through a citizen input survey that we will have available at the open house and is also available at the town website, that public input the town will review and consider it as it determines whether to incorporate any changes to our program prior to implementing a new contract in 2019.”

The open house runs from 4 until 7 today at the Kinsmen Community Centre.
