With the cancellation of Agri-Trade this year, some local farmers are missing their yearly chance to meet up with their peers, and check out the latest equipment and techniques in the world of Ag.
Well, fear not, as the Thanks for Farming Tour is coming to Red Deer next month.
While it'll be a smaller event with only 500 tickets available for sale via pre-registration, the two-day event will celebrate everything producers have dealt with this year, along with some guest speakers and agriculture equipment.
The tour was held across Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan this summer, but in much smaller venues than Western Park.
Organizer of the event and CEO of Thunderstruck Sales and Marketing Jeremy Matuszewski says this will be the largest gathering for this tour so far.
“We’re not trying to be Agri-trade. We’re trying to hold a smaller event where we can provide a safe environment for farmers to get off the farm, celebrate harvest, learn some different things, and just get a chance to socialize and network in a safe environment, and also to make decisions for their farm for 2021.”
Matuszewski says their goal was to simply help farmers.
“We wanted to add value in two ways. One, in the information that can help them on the farm, and two, with information that can just help them in life.”
The Thanks for Farming Tour goes on November 11th and 12th at Westerner Park.
Proceeds from the event will go to help two local charities: the Nov 11th ticket sales will go the 25 Wing Red Deer Air Cadets, and sales from Nov. 12th tickets will be put towards the Smiles Thru Lindsay Foundation.
Proper public health protocols will be followed to ensure it meets with Alberta Health public guidelines, with hand sanitizer, face masks, and specialized face shields that you can attach to your baseball cap available to all who register.
