Thanks to more than 41 thousand dollars in funding from the province, the Town of Sylvan Lake is set to start work on a Waterfront Area Redevelopment plan.

Communications Officer Joanne Gaudet says it's really about creating a vision for the waterfront, including the old water slide park.

“Define how that area is developed, ensuring that it maintains the recreational property element, that the plans are affordable, sustainable, and realistic, and we look forward to proceeding. We’ll proceed now with our charrette design, and potentially even a design competition for the final product, proceed with all of these community engagement opportunities, and we will start to develop the overall vision for the area.”

Gaudet says due to the amount of focus they want to place on community engagement and public feedback to create this vision, it will take them the better part of a year to develop the plan.
