After many months of waiting to see if COVID-19  would cancel another season, juggling players to fit the restrictions under a pandemic, and the construction of a brand new stadium, The Sylvan Lake Gulls are ready to kick off their inaugural season tonight in Sylvan Lake at Pogadl Park.

Co-founder and CEO of the team, Jen Schetzsle say they are so excited about it all finally coming together. "I"m  just overjoyed, I'm excited, there's a million things running through my head right now, I'm just excited to watch a ball game here. It's great to see it all really coming together, and so quickly over the past couple of days."

Graham Schetzsle admits they are a bit nervous with the season opening tonight. " We want to do a good job, we want to roll it out with a good first impression, but the ball park isn't fully finished yet so we hope people will be patient with us as we grow into this ball park throughout this season and into next. So we are feeling excitement and a bit of nervousness."

During a media day yesterday the new uniforms and the team were revealed for the first time. This season will be a bit different with COVID-19 restrictions which means that all of the players are Canadian.

It will be a 40 game season with 20 home games scheduled. Tickets will be sold as individual game tickets only. They will be available online five days prior to each home game, starting at noon. No tickets will be sold at the stadium. They will be $20 each and sold at www.sylvanlakegulls.com

Because of COVID-19 restrictions, seating will be limited for the games in the brand new Gulls Stadium. The stadium currently has 882 bucket seats installed with plans for grass berms on the side also being used for seating.

Participating teams will include the Sylvan Lake Gulls, the Edmonton Prospects, the Okotoks Dawgs Red, Okotoks Dawgs Black, and the Lethbridge Bulls.
