Red Deer RCMP are looking for public assistance to locate a stolen SUV and the two dogs that were in it when it was stolen this afternoon.

RCMP received a report at 12:10 pm today that a black Toyota 4 Runner had just been stolen while it was idling in a convenience store parking lot at 33 Street and 50 Avenue; two dogs were in the SUV when it was stolen. RCMP do not know at this time if the dogs remain with the vehicle or if the thief put them out of it.

The first dog is a miniature husky: Hajo is a fluffy black female with three white paws and a curly tail, about 15 lbs and 10 years old. She is chipped. The second dog, Daisy, is a fluffy grey female Shih Tzu, 5 years old, with a chip and a tag.

The black 1996 Toyota 4 Runner is described as having some rust. The license plate is Alberta BMG 4421.

Red Deer RCMP are asking the public to keep an eye out for the dogs as well as the SUV. If you locate the dogs, please safeguard them and call RCMP immediately at 403-343-5575. RCMP continue to investigate.

If photos of the dogs become available, RCMP will issue an update containing them.
