It couldn’t be a better start to beginning of market season in Lacombe.

It was a busy first day of the Lacombe Farmers’ Market as the community came out in bunches to check out all the different vendors.

Everything from baked goods to fresh fruits and vegetables is being offered this year.

Owner of My Bread Sandi Pinto has been attending the Lacombe Farmers’ Market for 27 years and said they couldn’t ask for a nicer day.

“The weather is spectacular today and it’s supposed to be good again tomorrow. We haven’t seen that in a long time. We’ve been here when it’s been windy, cold, rainy and have even seen snow.”

“This is awesome.”

She said market season is always an exciting time for their business.

“This is our livelihood. It’s our bread and butter, no pun intended, and we love it.”

“We love the interaction with the people; we’ve made a huge client base in this area so we’re very excited to be here.”

Owner of AZ Tech Creations, Debbie Gramlich, was laid off from her full time job a couple of years and said the market has kept her afloat.

“It’s really important for people to come down and take a look at some of the things people are crafting, whether it’s preserves or food meat,” said Gramlich.

“People have lost their jobs and sometimes this is a way to make ends meat.”

Judith Knutson has been attending the market for about 17 years and said it’s something she really looks forward to.

“It’s always wonderful to be here and it’s great to see so many people, we’ve waited for so long and the weather is super today. I’m really glad for that.”

The Lacombe Farmers’ Market takes place at the Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex and runs every Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. until Oct. 6.
