After completing a three month film school in Quebec, a local resident from Lacombe is bringing ten short student films to Carnival Cinemas in Red Deer on Wed. Nov., 23.

Lyndall Cave said all films were created by and worked on by students from the School of Digital Filmmaking in Quebec and explains what the night is all about.

“There will be ten short films in various genres, ranging from comedy and romance to drama and crime. I’d say they’re rated PG for some mild violence and mature themes, but I think the majority of people will really enjoy them.”

Cave added she wrote and directed two of the films and one was voted on by her peers as a final project.

“The film is called ‘Exspelled?’ and it’s a story about two girls who are students at a magic college and they both have a crush on the same guy. So they cast a sleeping beauty spell on him and the one who truly loves him will be able to wake him up, but neither of them is able to wake him up. It’s all about their shenanigans trying to wake him up.”

Cave adds each film is around five to six minutes long and doors open at 7pm.

There will also be a donation box on location for those who wish to make a contribution.
