The Lacombe Police Service has had a busy month of May so far. Here is a breakdown of some of the arrests they have made in the past few weeks, as well as a warning about suspects trying to scam you out of your money by attempting to sell you fake gold.

 

Suspicious female report leads to arrest.

On May 9, 2019, the Lacombe Police observed a suspicious female in the area of Highway 2a and 51ave, Lacombe, Alberta who was known to have warrants out of the Red Deer area.

Upon further investigation, she was found to be in possession of a stolen vehicle. The female was placed under arrest at which time a quantity of methamphetamine was located in her possession.

Carrie Joy MARKUS, 42, of Red Deer has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of property over $5000.00 – 1 (one) counts

Possession of a controlled substance – 1 (one) count

Possession of break and enter tools – 1 (one) count

Obstruct Peace Officer – 1 (one) count

Drive Uninsured motor vehicle – 1 (one) count.

Stolen vehicle leads to drug bust.

On May 10, 2019, the Lacombe Police were notified of a stolen trailer stolen from the Lacombe, Alberta area for sale on a local sales site.

Police were able to successfully communicate the location of the property.

Police attended and were able to locate 1 (one) Dodge Challenger,1 (one) Haulmark trailer and 1 (one) washer/dryer set.

2 Males were arrested and searched at which time a large quantity of methamphetamine and cocaine with a street value of $1800.00 was located in the vehicle driven by the suspects.

Shawn Everett BULLERWELL, 41, of Lacombe County, has been charged with the following offences:

Trafficking property obtained by crime over $5000.00 – 1 (one) count

Possession of property over $5000.00 – 4 (four) counts

Possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine – 1 (one) count

Possession of a controlled substance - cocaine – 1 (one) count)

Bruce Roger REGIE, 46, of Red Deer County has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of property over $5000.00 – 1 (one counts)

Possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine – 1 (one) count

Possession of a controlled substance - cocaine – 1 (one) count)

Stolen microwaves:

On May 4, 2019, at 0510 am, the Lacombe Police observed a suspicious truck occupied by a male and a female parked in a local mini-storage business in Lacombe.

A query of the license plate found the truck was not a match. The truck was found to belong to a business from the Edmonton area.

The male and female arrested for possession of stolen property and break and enter tools.

While speaking with the two suspects, they were found to be loading multiple microwaves, still in original packaging, from the storage unit.

Further investigation found the microwaves to be stolen from an oilfield company in the Rimbey, Alberta area.

Based on the information the Lacombe Police Service was able to secure a search warrant of the storage unit.

The subsequent search found approx. $20,000.00 in stolen property from the central Alberta region.

Calvin Howard BROWN, 43, of Blackfalds has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of property over $5000.00 – 2 (two) counts

Possession of property under $5000.00 – 1 (one) count

Trafficking property obtained by crime – 1 (one) count

Possess instrument for use in forging credit card – 1 (one) count

Possession of break and enter tools – 1 (one) count

Identity theft – 1 (one) count

Possess identity document – 1 (one) count

Possess stolen credit card – 1 (one) count

Careless storage of a firearm – 1 (one) count

Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 1 (one) count

Possession of a firearm knowing possession is unauthorized – 1 (one) count

Erica Dawn FOLEY, 37, of Ponoka, has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of stolen property under $5000.00 – 1 (one) count

Possession of a controlled substances – 1 (one) count

Operate motor vehicle without certificate of registration – 1(one) count

Drive uninsured motor vehicle on highway – 1 (two) count

Fail to provide PO with required information – 1 (one) count

Breach of condition – 1 (one) count

Fake jewelry scam.

Police would like to remind the public to be aware of people attempting to sell gold and high-value jewelry.

Police have responded to a number of complaints of people being approached in mall parking lots and banks by people attempting to sell gold and jewellery which they say is real.

In the end the gold/jewelry turns out to be fake.

People are being approached and asked to purchase gold and jewelry in public locations. The jewelry, in the end, is actually fake,” States Constable Vaughan Bleasdale. “We want to remind the public that if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is and to call police if approached by a suspicious persons selling these products.”
