Sounds of roaring engines filled the skies of Lacombe early Sunday, as planes from across the province made a stop at the Lacombe Airport.

It was all part of Lacombe Flying Club's 54th annual Fly in Breakfast, as hundreds of residents came out to get an up close and personal view of 40-some-odd planes that were on display.

One of those residents was Katie Stiff, who thought it would be nice to bring her young boy out to enjoy the festivities.

“I wanted to take the little guy out. We live close by and we always see the airplanes from the distance so I thought I would take him here and show him what they really look like,” said Stiff.

President of the Lacombe Flying Club John From, says there are usually more pilots who make the trip, but says you wouldn’t know it by the amount of people who showed up to offer their support.

“We’re really fortunate here at the Lacombe Airport and the Lacombe Flying Club. The community support that we get is fantastic, it seems to be for any event we have. This is a public facility and here for people to enjoy.”

More than just a breakfast, kids also had the chance to take firetruck tours along with tractor helicopter rides.
