If you have been to a Social Media Breakfast here in Lacombe, you know the goal is to inform community members and small business owners about the importance of social media when it comes to promoting themselves.

Sophie Xue works at MNP Accounting, and she attended the most recent breakfast at Dancers Edge Studio on September 6th, where speaker Dwayne Hollad spoke about the importance of branding your business and yourself, especially in a smaller community.

Xue says even though she is not a business owner, she is now fully aware of the impact a personal social media post can have on the business you work for.

“We take a lot of pictures when we are out and about, and it was really good to see how our posts impact ourselves and our office, even though it was on our personal media.”

Streamlining your social media feed is something owner of Healthfitters Lacombe Julia Boser says was an important lesson she's learned from these breakfasts.

“Branding is much more than I thought it was, that’s for sure. Things like just being true to who I am, and what I stand for, and making sure that everything is in alignment with our social media pages.”

The Social Media Breakfast has been nominated for a Lacombe and District Chamber of Commerce award in the ‘Not for Profit of the Year’ category.

The awards take place this Saturday at the LMC.

The breakfasts take place on the first Wednesday of every second month, with the next breakfast happening on November 1st at Good Neighbour Coffee, starting at 8am.
