Red Deer RCMP continue to investigate an incident in which shots were fired in the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood at 10:30 pm Thursday night, in what police believe was a targeted incident.

The incident occurred at an apartment building at 59 Street and 55 Avenue in Red Deer; several units, nearby residences and vehicles were damaged by bullets but no innocent bystanders were injured.

RCMP took a 44 year old man and a 37 year old woman into custody at the scene and conducted an intensive search, assisted by Police Dog Services, for several more suspects seen fleeing the area. RCMP continue to search for two or three suspects, one or more of whom may have received a gunshot wound.

The investigation is ongoing as RCMP continue to gather evidence, surveillance footage and witness statements. If you have information about this investigation, contact the Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575. The RCMP Red Deer Detachment, along with the assistance of the Red Deer Detachment General Investigation Section and RCMP Police Dog Service have responded to a complaint within the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood of a shots fired complaint.

Initial reports indicate that a person or persons may have been injured during the altercation, and at this point, the suspects remain at large.  Information related to the preliminary investigation leads investigators to believe this is not a random incident.

The RCMP continue to investigate, and at this time, this is believed to be an isolated incident with no further risk to the public.
