On Thursday, February 2, 2017, Mounties executed a Search Warrant at a residence in the Town of Rocky Mountain House.

A local man was arrested for drug trafficking and unlawful possession of firearms.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP General Investigation Section, as part of a strategic plan to reduce illicit drugs in the community concluded a lengthy investigation and arrested 30 year old Wade OTTERSON at his residence.

During the search of the property police located cocaine, methamphetamine, magic mushrooms and other illicit drugs.

Officers also seized Canadian currency, drug trafficking paraphernalia and a large number of illegal high powered rifles and shotguns.

During the execution of the Search Warrant, officers from the Red Deer RCMP Priority Crimes Task Force and Police Dog Section assisted with safely completing the operation.

OTTERSON was also wanted by the law for serious crimes allegedly committed in Medicine Hat, Alberta for which he has also been charged.

OTTERSON has been charged with: several counts of drug trafficking, proceeds of crime under $5,000, unlawful possession of firearms, unsafe storage of firearms and other serious criminal charges.

OTTERSON has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, February 6th, 2017, at Red Deer Provincial Court.
