From Rocky Mountain House RCMP– In collaboration with partner agencies, the Rocky Mountain House RCMP effected the safe rescue of stranded boaters on the North Saskatchewan River last night

At approximately 7:30 P.M. the Rocky Mountain House RCMP were contacted by the Clearwater Fire Department reporting that 6 people were stranded on the North Saskatchewan River up river of the Saunders recreation area. 

 A joint forces operation was put in motion as result of the limited available information.

Clearwater Fire rescue, RCMP, Search and Rescue, Rocky Ambulance and Conservation Enforcement were engaged.

Two adults, two youths, two children and one husky dog were located on the south shore.  

Their boat, which was later determined to have had gotten away when they stopped to rest, was located down river on the north shore.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP deployed their jet boat and with the assistance of SAR members recovered all six individuals and the dog.

The boat owner was able to get their boat started and taken back home.

No injuries were reported during this incident
