On March 13, the Rimbey RCMP put out a request for assistance to locate the rightful owner of a large amount of cash turned in by a local business.

Today, the RCMP were very pleased to be able to return that cash.

Thanks to the efforts of our media partners, a 50-year-old lady from the area was alerted to the found cash and was able to properly identify the amount of cash and where and how it was left.

“This is a really successful community collaboration, starting with the honest actions of a good samaritan, to the support of the media agencies in getting our message out”, says Sergeant Kurtis Pillipow.

“We are really happy with the outcome of this investigation.”

The RCMP are in possession of a large amount of cash which was located in the washroom of a local Rimbey business.

It’s the Rimbey RCMP’s goal to return this cash to the person who left it behind.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017 the RCMP opened an investigation after the found cash was turned in by an employee at the business.

To date, no one has reported losing this amount of cash and efforts remain ongoing to find the owner.

The RCMP is requesting that anyone who lost cash at a business, and can identify the amount of cash, what business it was, and how the cash was being carried, should contact the Rimbey Detachment at 403-843-2224.

“Someone out there is missing this money and we have no reason to believe there’s anything suspicious about this incident” says Sergeant Kurtis Pillipo.
