The Winnipeg owner of a famous Alberta dragster has donated the car to the Reynolds-Alberta Museum in Wetaskiwin.

Wheeler Dealer is a top fuel dragster that roared to victories on the international circuit in the 1970s.

Dr. Brian Friesen of Winnipeg acquired it in 2007, did a full restoration, and has now donated it to Alberta's fleet of historic vehicles at the Reynolds Museum.

It’s the only vehicle of its kind in the provincial collection.

Top fuel drag racers are among the fastest accelerating racing vehicles in the world and can reach speeds of more than 500 km/h in under four seconds.

“Wheeler Dealer” was originally owned and operated by Terry Capp of St. Albert and his team from 1973-1979, over the next three decades the vehicle was raced and modified by three subsequent owners.

The dragster recently received Canadian Cultural Property Certification from Canadian Heritage with a value of $285,000.
