The Medicine River Wildlife Centre is reminding people, that while they do help solve people's wildlife conflicts, getting rid of skunks is not one of those duties.

The Centre says they've received a growing number of calls from people who have set up skunk traps, then ask them to remove the skunk properly.

Medicine River says they don't have the proper resources, and suggests trying to find the reason the skunk is hanging around your property instead of trying to capture it.

They also say that by removing 1 adult male skunk from it's territory, opens the door for up to 5 younger males to move in.

The Centre says using the method of removing food and denning sources but not removing the skunk was resulted in many yards solving their conflict with skunks.

If you have issues with wildlife, you're asked to call the Medicine River Wildlife Centre before setting traps or taking your own actions.
