Recent arrests in Red Deer include numerous suspects wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, stolen firearms and the recovery of an SUV stolen out of Olds that was involved in at least three separate criminal incidents, several of which involved dangerous driving that endangered the lives of the public, police officers and a suspect who was being arrested. 

August 4

At 1:15 am, RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity in the Clearview Ridge neighbourhood, and located a man who was in possession of a stolen bicycle and methamphetamine. 

30 year old Wade Lawrence Grauman faces the following charges:

•         CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance (crystal meth)

•         Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000

•         Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation order

•         Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with condition

Grauman appeared in court in Red Deer on August 15.

August 4

Shortly after 5:30 pm on August 4, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious man in a parked car with what was believed to be a rifle.

RCMP attended the Recreation Centre parking lot and executed a high-risk arrest of the suspect, who was found to be in possession of three BB guns: a long rifle with a scope and two handguns. 

30 year old Brett Jared Blades faces a charge of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose (CC 88(1)).

He made his first court appearance in Red Deer on August 11 and will appear again on August 30 at 9:30 am. 

August 4

The evening of August 4, RCMP located a stolen grey SUV as it drove in north Red Deer, and tracked it to the parking lot of a liquor store.

RCMP blocked in the vehicle and prepared to initiate a high-risk arrest.

As police arrested the passenger, the driver took off, narrowly missing hitting his fellow suspect and police officers as he fled the scene in the SUV.

The SUV had been reported stolen out of Olds on July 29 after it was left unlocked in a parking lot with the keys inside. 

The male passenger, 34 year old Timothy John Knowles, was wanted on outstanding warrants after failing to attend court regarding an April arrest.

Knowles was remanded to appear in court on August 9 and will appear next on August 17 at 9:30 am.

RCMP continue to investigate this incident.

August 5

On August 5, Red Deer RCMP located and arrested 26 year old Shannon Dawn Lagrelle, who was found to be breaching court-imposed conditions and was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Leduc.

At the time of her arrest, Lagrelle was in possession of stolen credit cards from nine different victims, a stolen cheque, and a stolen passport and driver’s license from two different victims.

She was also in possession of methamphetamine. 

Shannon Lagrelle faces the following charges:

•         CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance (methamphetamine)

•         Criminal Code 56.1(1) – Possession of identity document X 2

•         Criminal Code 342(1)(c) – Possession of stolen credit card X 9

•         Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000 X 2

•         Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with condition

Lagrelle was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on August 8 and will appear in court again on August 22 at 9:30 am.

August 6

Shortly after 2 am on August 6, RCMP on patrol in downtown Red Deer located a suspect who refused to stop for police and then provided a false name after they intercepted him.

The suspect was found to be contravening a number of court-imposed conditions and was wanted on multiple outstanding warrants out of BC. 

31 year old Christopher Gerald McMurray faces the following charges in addition to his outstanding warrants:

•         Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer X 2

•         Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

•         Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation X 2

•         Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions X 6

McMurray is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on August 29 at 8:30 am. 

August 8

Shortly before 3 am on August 8, RCMP located a stolen SUV as it drove through the Oriole Park neighbourhood.

RCMP laid a tire deflation device on Kerrywood Drive near Taylor Drive and another on Taylor Drive bridge and the SUV drove over both, disabling both front tires.

The SUV continued to the intersection of 55 Avenue and 37 Street, where three occupants abandoned it and attempted to flee on foot.

The male driver and a female passenger were taken into custody after brief foot chases.

The driver was in possession of several stolen cheques at the time of his arrest; he was further identified as the driver in a gas and dash on August 7, where he was caught on camera driving the stolen SUV.

RCMP have verified that this was the same grey SUV that was reported stolen out of Olds on July 29 and fled Red Deer RCMP on August 4, nearly striking a police officer and a suspect who was being arrested.

RCMP continue to investigate. 

20 year old Thomas Jeffrey Houle faces the following charges:

•         Criminal Code 249.1(1) – Operate motor vehicle while being pursued by police

•         Criminal Code 249(1)(a) – Dangerous operation of motor vehicle

•         Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000

•         Criminal Code 334(b) – Theft under $5,000

•         Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

•         TSA 94 – Drive while unauthorized

Houle was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on August 9, and is scheduled to appear in court again on August 23 at 9:30 am.

August 4

August 6

25 year old Mickala Ashley Schultz was wanted on several outstanding warrants at the time of her arrest and faced seven new charges of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

Schultz was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on August 9, and made her next appearance on August 15 at 9:30 am.

August 8

On August 8, RCMP laid charges against a Red Deer woman regarding identity fraud that had occurred on July 10 after a woman applied for credit at several Red Deer businesses using stolen identification.

RCMP identified the suspect on July 26 and arrested her on July 27.

The victim’s wallet had been stolen from her vehicle several weeks earlier in a smash and grab; one of the credit cards the suspect had applied for in the victim’s name had been approved at the time of the suspect’s arrest. 

36 year old Danielle Janet Ross faces the following charges:

•         Criminal Code 56.1 – Possession of identity documents

•         Criminal Code  402.2 – Identity Theft X 2

•         Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000

•         Criminal Code 342(1)(a) – Theft of Credit Card

Ross will appear in court in Red Deer on August 18 at 9:30 am.

August 9

Shortly before 9:30 pm on August 9, RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance at an apartment building in the Westpark neighbourhood after a man was reported to have robbed another man at knifepoint inside one of the apartments.

RCMP responded and took a man and a woman into custody; no one was injured in the robbery and the victim had his money returned to him.

 33 year old Bradley James Letendre-Grimmelt and 20 year old Kayla Jackson each face one charge of robbery with a weapon (CC 344(1)(b)) and one charge of possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence (CC 88(1)).

Both will appear in court in Red Deer on August 18 at 9:30 am. 

August 10

At 1:30 am on August 10, Red Deer RCMP on patrol in the Normandeau neighbourhood located a man at a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Calgary.

RCMP determined the suspect, 41 year old Darrell Mark Myshak, was wanted on seven outstanding warrants out of Didsbury for possession of stolen property, failing to appear in court and a number of driving charges.

He was further wanted on two outstanding warrants out of Red Deer for driving charges.

He was taken into custody without incident and RCMP continue to investigate. 

August 10

Shortly before 1 pm on August 10, RCMP located 43 year old Richard Ogilvie, who was wanted on outstanding warrants for break and enter (X 3), breaching probation and failing to appear in court.

At the time of his arrest, Ogilvie was found to be in possession of what is believed to be methamphetamine. 

Richard Ogilvie now faces the following additional charges:

•         CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance

•         Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation

•         Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

Ogilvie is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on August 29 at 9:30 am.

August 10

Red Deer RCMP located and arrested 23 year old Johnny Howard MacDonald, who was wanted on warrants after failing to appear in court to face charges stemming from an incident on March 27 when he collided with a police cruiser and two civilian vehicles in the East Hill Shopping Centre parking lot while attempting to evade police in a stolen truck.

At the time of his arrest, MacDonald was also wanted on a warrant out of Innisfail. 

Johnny MacDonald was scheduled for his first court appearance in Red Deer on August 15 at 9:30 am. 

August 10

Shortly before 9 pm on August 10, RCMP responded to a report of fraud and arrested a man and woman who had rented a home under false names and defrauded the home owner. 

39 year old Michael David Tobias and 36 year old Cherissa Tobias each face one count of fraud under $5,000 (CC 380(1)(b)).

Michael David Tobias was remanded for his first court appearance on August 11 and was scheduled to appear again on August 15; Cherissa Tobias made her first court appearance in Red Deer on August 15 and is scheduled to appear again on September 19 at 8:30 am. 

August 12 

On August 12, Red Deer RCMP responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at a store in south Red Deer.

On arrival, RCMP arrested a man who was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants for theft, forgery, possession of stolen property, failing to attend court, failing to comply with conditions and failing to comply with probation.

At the time of his arrest, the suspect was in possession of a BB gun; he attempted unsuccessfully to flee police on foot as he was being brought to the police car. 

34 year old Michael Gary Bishop faces the following charges in addition to his outstanding warrants:

•         Criminal Code 334(b) – Theft under $5,000

•         Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

•         Criminal Code 129(a) – Resists/ obstructs peace officer

•         Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions

Bishop is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on August 18 at 9:30 am. 

August 14

On August 14, Red Deer RCMP located and arrested 36 year old Tina Desjardine, who was wanted on outstanding warrants after failing to appear in court regarding a personal robbery on February 24, in which a man walking in the Riverside Meadows area in the early hours of the morning was robbed of his wallet by two men and a woman.

Desjardine was remanded to appear in court on August 15 at 9:30 am. 

August 14

At 5:15 pm on August 14, RCMP on patrol in downtown Red Deer located a parked stolen truck and arrested the female occupant, who initially gave police a false name.

In the truck, RCMP located methamphetamine and four firearms that had been reported stolen from a Red Deer home on August 13.

The Dodge Ram had been reported stolen out of Red Deer on August 11. 

25 year old Crystal Helena Collins faces the following charges:

•         Criminal Code 94(1) – Possession of prohibited firearm in motor vehicle X 4

•         Criminal Code 91(2) – Possession of restricted weapon without license X 4

•         Criminal Code 129(a) – Resist/ obstruct peace officer

•         Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000

•         Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000 X 4

•         Criminal Code 88(1) – Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose X 2

•         CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance

Collins is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on August 22 at 8:30 am. 

August 15

At 3:30 am on August 15, RCMP responded to a report of a collision in the Westpark neighbourhood after the driver of a Ford Expedition collided with a parked vehicle.

On arrival, RCMP located methamphetamine and items consistent with drug trafficking in the Expedition and arrested the driver, who was wanted on outstanding traffic warrants at the time of his arrest. 

A 32 year old man now faces a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking in addition to his outstanding warrants.

His name cannot be released at this time as charges have not yet been sworn before the courts. RCMP continue to investigate.
