Red Deer, Alberta – Recent arrests of note by Red Deer RCMP include suspects arrested in industrial areas during the commission of crimes, attempted frauds in progress using stolen identification and cheques, and a number of drug charges.

 June 21

At 1:30 am on June 21, RCMP responded to a break and enter at a business in Edgar Industrial Park and, with the help of Police Dog Services, located and arrested a suspect who was hiding from police.

40 year old Jeremiah Newton faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 348(1)(e) – Breaking and entering

Jeremiah Newton was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 22 and is scheduled to appear again on June 25 at 9:30 am.

 June 20

Members of the Red Deer RCMP drug section doing proactive work in downtown Red Deer the night of June 20 arrested a woman who was in possession of fentanyl and items consistent with drug trafficking.

23 year old Reanne Broderson was wanted on an outstanding warrant at the time of her arrest. She now faces the following additional charges:

  • ·CDSA 5(2) – Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • ·Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • ·Criminal Code 145(3) – Failure to comply with conditions X 3

Broderson was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 22 and is scheduled to appear again on June 28 at 9:30 am.

June 19

At 7:15 pm on June 19, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious male in the Edgar Industrial Park area. Police located the suspect, who initially gave police a false name. RCMP quickly determined the suspect’s identity and that he was wanted on ten outstanding warrants out of Red Deer for break and enter, possession of stolen property, several weapons charges and a drug possession charge.

42 year old Patrick Alexander Coade faces a charge of obstructing a peace officer (CC 129(a)) in addition to his warrants. He is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on June 27 at 8:30 am.

June 15

Shortly after 6 pm on June 15, RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity in an industrial area, and located a man driving a stolen truck. At the time of his arrest, the suspect was in possession of numerous pieces of stolen identification, a stolen cheque made out in the suspect’s name, and heroin.

35 year old Robert Jade Powell face the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Fail to comply with probation X 7
  • ·Criminal Code 354 – Possession of stolen property under $5,000 X 7
  • ·Criminal Code 367(1) – Forgery
  • ·CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance (heroin)

Powell was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 29 at 8:30 am.

 June 14

Shortly before 6 pm, RCMP attended a north Red Deer bank in response to a report of a suspect attempting to cash a fraudulent cheque. During the arrest, RCMP determined the suspect was wanted on outstanding warrants out of Calgary.

In addition to his warrants, 38 year old Deng Bol faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 368(1)(a) – Use/ traffic/ possess a forged document
  • ·Criminal Code 380(1)(a) – Fraud under $5,000

Bol was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 18 and is scheduled to appear again on June 27 at 9:30 am.

 June 14

Shortly before 3 pm on June 14, RCMP on patrol in an area criminals are known to frequent located a woman who was wanted on seven outstanding warrants for theft, failing to comply with conditions and failing to appear. During the arrest, RCMP seized what is believed to be methamphetamine.

33 year old Nicole Celine Mauro faces a charge of CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance in addition to her warrants. Mauro was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 29 at 9:00 am.

 June 12

At 5:30 pm on June 12, RCMP were called to a pawn shop in response to a report of a suspicious man and woman. RCMP attended and located the male and female suspects in possession of stolen identification from several different victims, a stolen credit card and several small electronic items, and driving a stolen truck. The credit card and some of the identification had been reported stolen out of Ponoka along with the truck after the truck owner left their house and vehicle keys and wallet in the truck overnight.

32 year old Samantha Leone Lewis faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • ·Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000 X 3
  • ·Criminal Code 145(3) – Failing to comply with condition
  • ·Criminal Code 403(1)(a) – Identity fraud

Lewis was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 15 and is scheduled to appear again on June 26 at 9:30 am.

24 year old Tyson Richard Ethier faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 355(a) – Possession of stolen property over $5,000
  • ·Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000

Criminal Code 145(3) – Failing to comply with condition X 2

Ethier was scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on June 16; he did not appear and the charges are now at warrant status.

June 11

Shortly before 5 pm on June 11, RCMP responded to a report of a man wearing a face covering and carrying a weapon on a residential street in the South Hill neighbourhood. RCMP attended immediately and located a suspect in possession of a sawed off rifle, a machete and break-in tools.

27 year old Vincent Luigino Vanin faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 117.01(1) – Possession of firearm contrary to prohibition order X 3
  • ·Criminal Code 92(1) – Possession of firearm while knowing possession was unauthorized
  • ·Criminal Code 90(1) – Carrying concealed weapon
  • ·Criminal Code 108(1)(b) – Possession of firearm knowing the serial number had been removed
  • ·Criminal Code 351(2) – Wearing a disguise with intent to commit indictable offence
  • ·Criminal Code 351(1) – Possession of break-in tools

Vanin was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 13 and is scheduled to appear again on June 26 at 9:30 am.

 June 10

Shortly after 1 pm on June 10, RCMP responded to a report of a robbery in a casino, after a female victim alleged that a man watched her play at a slot machine then demanded her cash and her purse and told her he had a gun. RCMP attended immediately and located the suspect in a nearby business in possession of the victim’s credit card. Police retrieved the victim’s purse from a recycling bin outside the business. No firearm was seen or located during the investigation.

28 year old Kevin Joseph Brezuk faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 344(1)(b) – Robbery
  • ·Criminal Code 733.1(1) – Failing to comply with probation X 2

Brezuk was remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 11; he is scheduled to appear next on June 25 at 9:30 am.

 June 9

The evening of June 9, members of the Red Deer RCMP crime reduction team were on patrol in downtown Red Deer and located a suspect who was breaching his parole. During the arrest, RCMP determined that the suspect was in possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and a sawed off shotgun.

37 year old Michael Joseph Stinert faces the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 117.01(1) – Possession of firearm contrary to order
  • ·Criminal Code 92(1) – Possession of unauthorized firearm
  • ·Criminal Code 95(1) – Possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition
  • ·Criminal Code 90(2) – Carrying concealed weapon
  • ·CDSA 5(2) – Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • ·CDSA 4(1) – Possession of Schedule I substance (methamphetamine, cocaine) X 2

Stinert has been remanded to appear in court in Red Deer on June 25 at 9:30 am.

June 8

On June 8, Red Deer RCMP located and arrested a 16 year old boy who police had identified as a suspect in an early morning liquor store break-in in the Timberlands neighbourhood on May 16. The youth, who cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will appear in court in Red Deer on July 5 to face the following charges:

  • ·Criminal Code 145(3) – Failing to comply with condition X 4
  • ·Criminal Code 145(5.1) – Failing to comply with undertaking
