Red Deer RCMP are investigating a break-in and vandalism that occurred overnight at the site of the Don Campbell Elementary School that is currently under construction on Irving Crescent in the Inglewood neighbourhood.

RCMP responded to the report of a break-in at the site shortly after 2:30 am on February 24 and followed up on a possible second incident later the same morning.

Suspects broke into the construction site and sprayed graffiti on numerous walls throughout site.

The site was broken into earlier this month, as well; in that incident, fire extinguishers were deployed throughout the site.

Based on the type of graffiti and activities that appear to have taken place, at this point in the investigation RCMP believe the suspects may be a group of youth.

RCMP remind citizens that vandalism of this sort is not a harmless prank; the suspects responsible have caused significant damage and could face serious charges under the Criminal Code of Canada, including break and enter, mischief and trespassing.
